Roo Lan is acutely aware that buildings and equipment don’t care for people, people care for people. As a result we have always placed a strong emphasis on hiring the best nursing staff possible and ensuring low turnover.Roo Lan Memory care has been serving the Lacey community for more than 20 years, and we’re proud to state that much of our staff has been with us since opening day. Many of our care givers have decades of experience in Memory Care and have spent the majority of their careers tending to the needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Craig LeVee, Owner
Craig came to Roo Lan in 1985 and has been deeply involved in the facility ever since. In more than 30 years of leadership, he has always believed in two simple principles. The first is that the best people provide the best care, Craig has worked hard to ensure that Roo Lan has some of the most experienced and qualified care givers in the region. The second principle is that Roo Lan will always provide quality care regardless of background, ethnicity, or finances.
Karen Ponton, MHA: Administrator
As a former US Air Force Captain, Karen acquired her calm leadership style while flying refueling tankers for fighters on long sorties. After leaving the service, Karen went to school and received a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. She now has more than 10 years of experience in health care and has served as Roo Lan’s Administrator since 2013. She takes a personal interest in the success and lives of every resident at our campus.
McKenzie Bracy, LPN: Admissions Coordinator
Having been around nurses since childhood, McKennzie has always liked helping people. Her mom was a nurse manager and she was inspired to follow in her footsteps after years of tagging along with her to work. McKennzie went on to get her LPN at Concorde Career Institute in Arlington Texas. She now has more than 10 years of experience and is currently training to become a full RN when she’s not at work or spending time with her two boys.
Monique Mayes LPN, Lodge 1 House Supervisor
Monique always wanted a career that would never become obsolete, so nursing was a perfect fit. Since graduating from Bates Technical College, she has accrued more than 20 years of experience in numerous environments from surgical rooms to mobile EMTs vehicles. When she’s not listening to her residents, Monique volunteers her medical services at her church and to help the homeless in her community.
Tanya Jones LPN, Lodge 2 House Supervisor
Tonja has been around nurses since her mother used to take her to work at Rice’s Nursing Home when she was just 4 years old. Since graduating from Centralia College with specializations in geriatrics and psychology, Tanya has spent more than 25 years continuing her mother’s legacy. After so many years of working with our guests Tanya considers her job second nature.
Lori Hull, Dietary Manager
Lori has been serving guests at Roo Lan delicious meals for more than 10 years now. She has spent her entire life around food starting with her first job at Country Cousins Diner as a waitress. When she’s not preparing meals tailored to the needs of those under her care, Lori tries to make our guests feel like they’re home through food. An avid baker, Lori loves to fill the halls of Roo Lan with the smell of fresh baked cookies, muffins, and other delicious treats.
